JUST IN;
ONELGA NEWS UPDATE:

WE ARE YET TO HEAR FROM GOVERNOR WIKE, EGBEMA KINDGOM CRIES AGAIN. SAYS (E.M.M).

the oil-rich and industrious people of egbema kingdom in ogba/egbema/ndoni local government area of river state have again cried out, refuting the claims of rumor-mongers that the river state governor has settled the Egbema people with appointments and series of contracts.
It remains very shocking and unbelievable for the current government to hurriedly forget the numerous promise they made to the Egbema people. Prior to the 2015 gubernatorial elections and state legislative election, the Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came to Egbema for campaigns and went  on their kneels soliciting for the votes and supports of the Egbema People, which without a second taught because of our ONELGA SON BRO. FELIX OBUAH we massively showered its candidates with unflinching support which can be traced to the massive turn-out of votes recorded in favour of  the PDP. and we furthered by continually praying for the success of the Gov. Wike-led Government. Were we mocked by various kingdoms yet will remained focused believing that The Wike-led Government will bring the change we sort for. Now the revise is the case.
The wondrous questions however, to ask remains:
1.     What went wrong? 2. Why the neglect and abandonment? 3. What have they told the Governor about us? 4.are we too quiet? Or is it because we don’t contribute to terrorism? And poses treate of insecurity in the state?
Oh! Our gentleness and civil disposition has caused us a lot.
WELL, THE EGBEMA PEOPLE PRESENT THE FOLLOWING REQUEST AND APPEALTO THE STATE GOVERNOR HIS EXCELLENCY (BARR). NYESOM WIKE.

@. THE REVIEW OF THE GERRYMANDERED SHARING FORMULA OTHER WISE KNOWN AS (POLITICAL ZONES) IN ONELGA.

@ THE CREATION OF ATLEAST TWO (2) MORE  ELECTORAL WARDS IN EGBEMA FOR FAIRNESS SAKE. Surprising to say that Egbema has a population of 50,000 persons and above  and it remains unjust for a Populous KINGDOM of such to have only 2 electoral wards. This is total robbery and cooked up attempt for we to continually be seen a minority in our Local Government and state.  The knowledge of government made me to understand that each polling unit has 500 voting strength. And Egbema has just 2 electoral wards with 30 polling units as to compare to what her sister kingdoms the OGBA and NDONI has.
CALCULATIONS:
(ONELGA) OGBA/EGBEMA/NDONI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF RIVER STATE HAS 17 WARDS. AND 298 POLLING UNITS.

OKWUZI COMMUNITY IN EGBEMA KINGDOM, IN OGBA/EGBEMA/NDONI L.G.A OF RIVER STATE SETS FOR HER BIANNUAL FISHING FESTIVAL (ABARRA) fixes 20th April, 2017.

Are you a fish addict? Do u love fresh fish pepper soup?
Then get set as The Industrious, agriculturally endowed, Fishing fortified  and oir-rich people of Okwuzi-Community in Egbema Kingdom sets to embark on her  finest festivals known as (Abarra).
(Abarra) as called by the people of Okwuzi means fishing festivals.  This is usually done once in every two years. As part of the peoples culture and heritage, the industrious people of Okwuzi Community have called on the General public to come and take a Historic view of her Finest culture.
Speaking on a live interview with Egbema Massive Movement, Elder A.C. Nwaugo who is one of the eldest in the community and a member of the ruling age-Grade in Okwuzi UKWU-OJIBU noted to have said, Agbara is the Liveliest and most challenging festival I have ever seen all through My live time. Elder Nwaugo furthered described the fest as a show of strength, smartness, and professionalism. He maintained that if only the participant will moderate themselves during the fest and avoid defiling the waters, that it will be for the good of all. He called on the influential sons of the Kingdom whom are lovers of the fest to use their influence and draw down the attention of the local government, state and federal government. we have gotten to the stage of displaying our culture and festivity on the media (news papers, radio stations, television houses, bloggers and rest of them). Elder Nwaugo furthered that if live coverage of the Fishing festival is shown across states of the federation, luckily the local Government, state, federal and foreign investors may pick up interest and choose to invest on our cultural heritage. Who knows if our fest could be the center of Nigeria tourism? It will be a source of revenue to the nation. The general public is invited,
Elder Nwaugo who was asked the needed equipment’s and materials for the fest said. We use fishing nets of any preferred sizes, we use cannons, we use mosquito nets, we use rechargeable and battery fitted touch and laps, we go to the scene with our metal nets for the temporary smoking of our fishes, to some, they go with sound systems, with their generators, cooking tools and the rest of them. During the 8days fest a lot of amusing transactions take place. You see people exchanging fishes for a cigarette, fishes for ethanol (kia-kia), fishes for coconuts and lots of them. He continued that the 1st day of the fest is characterized as clean-up day. It is a day were we all visit our waters after 2years and a lot of works needs to be done like the clearing of allocated portion of land for temporary stay, fetching of fire woods for cooking and smoking of fishes, the building of a jungle house (temporary house with sticks and roofed round with nylon), arranging of cannons and fishing nets. Elder Nwaugo whom was asked how the fishing goes if it has a cordial pattern of commencing the fest Said yes. That normally if some people do not defile the water, which will lead to automatic commencement of the fest. A gunshot is usually the sound for the commencement of the fest. Before the Sound of the Gun which means Go, gallantry and calmness usually takes the lead. There is a punishment for anyone or group of persons who defiles the fest. And it is tantamount to some days in the police custody and then a fine of N50,000. The fest is fun full and Historic says Elder Nwaugo.
Save the date 20th April 12, 2017. Come and see for yourself.
